Bastien and Associates, Inc. was selected by the City of Santa Clarita to oversee a seismic retrofit of their existing 3-story, 74,000 s.f. City Hall Building to meet “Emergency Operation Center” standards. As part of our proposal we teamed with world renowned earthquake engineering specialist, Miyamoto International. Through Miyamoto’s design analysis, we identified an alternate seismic rehabilitation strategy (Seismic Dampers) that would not only significantly reduce the duration of construction activities, but also reduce the risk of damage to building contents and occupants allowing for much quicker occupancy of the building following a seismic event.
